Plain-English summary

01 Who We Are

DockNav IQ ("DockNav IQ," "we," "us," or "our") is a commercial-truck navigation app that provides truck-safe routing, real-time hazard alerts, and crowdsourced facility arrival information ("the Last 500 Feet") — gate locations, guard shacks, staging areas, and loading dock entrances. This Privacy Policy explains what information the DockNav IQ mobile app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.

This policy applies to the DockNav IQ app on iOS and Android. It does not apply to third-party sites or services we link to or rely on, which have their own privacy policies (see Section 4).

02 Information We Collect

Account information

If you create an account to purchase a subscription, we collect the email address and password you provide. Passwords are never stored in plain text — authentication is handled by Amazon Cognito, and we never see or store your raw password.

Location information

DockNav IQ uses your device's GPS to calculate routes, show your position on the map, detect nearby facilities and hazards, and provide turn-by-turn guidance. While you are actively navigating, the app may continue to collect location data in the background so that routing and hazard alerts keep working if the app is minimized or the screen locks. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings, though doing so will prevent the app's core navigation features from working.

Photos

If you choose to submit a photo of a facility, gate, or hazard, that photo is uploaded to our servers and may be shown to other DockNav IQ users to help them identify the same location. Photos are scanned automatically for inappropriate content (see Section 4) before being shown to other users. Do not submit photos containing people, license plates, or other personal information you don't want shared.

Crowdsourced reports

Hazard reports, facility submissions, arrival-detail corrections, and photo votes/flags are collected to power the app's community features. These are tied to the report itself (and, for GPS-tagged reports, an approximate location and time), not to a personal account — submitting a report does not require you to be signed in.

Microphone

DockNav IQ requests microphone access to support voice-based hazard reporting, letting you report a hazard by speaking instead of tapping through menus while driving. Audio is only recorded when you actively start a voice report.

Subscription & payment information

Subscription purchases are processed by Apple and Google through their respective app stores, and subscription status is managed through RevenueCat. We receive confirmation that a purchase was made and its status (active, expired, in a trial period) — we do not receive or store your credit card or payment details.

Crowdsourced reports and photos remain available to other users to keep the community data useful, unless removed through moderation or at your request (Section 6). You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time — see Section 10 for how to reach us.

06 Your Choices & Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, correct, or export your data. Contact us to exercise these rights.

07 Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) between the app and our servers, and secure credential handling through Amazon Cognito. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

08 Children's Privacy

DockNav IQ is intended for commercial truck drivers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

09 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we'll provide notice within the app.

Note on this draft: this document was drafted to accurately describe what the DockNav IQ app actually does, based on its real, built functionality, for use as the Privacy Policy URL required by App Store Connect and Google Play Console. It is a starting point, not legal advice — have it reviewed by a lawyer familiar with privacy law in the jurisdictions where you'll operate before relying on it for compliance, and fill in the bracketed placeholders (launch date, support email) before publishing.
