DockNav IQ ("DockNav IQ," "we," "us," or "our") is a commercial-truck navigation app that provides truck-safe routing, real-time hazard alerts, and crowdsourced facility arrival information ("the Last 500 Feet") — gate locations, guard shacks, staging areas, and loading dock entrances. This Privacy Policy explains what information the DockNav IQ mobile app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.
This policy applies to the DockNav IQ app on iOS and Android. It does not apply to third-party sites or services we link to or rely on, which have their own privacy policies (see Section 4).
When you create an account, we collect the email address and password you provide. Passwords are never stored in plain text — sign-in is handled by Amazon Cognito, and we never see or store your raw password. You may also choose a public DockNav username, which other drivers see next to your community contributions instead of your email.
DockNav IQ uses your device's precise GPS location to calculate routes, show your position on the map, find facilities, cameras, parking and alerts along your route, and give turn-by-turn guidance. While you are actively navigating, the app continues to use location in the background so routing and alerts keep working when the app is minimized or the screen is locked. To provide these features, the app sends locations (such as your starting point, destination and points along your route) to our servers and to the map and data services listed in Section 4. We do not keep a history of your movements, and trip summaries (below) contain no GPS trail. You can turn off location access in your device settings, but navigation will not work without it.
Road and hazard reports, confirmations, facility submissions, arrival-detail corrections, reviews and ratings, parking and weigh-station observations, photos, votes and Community posts are collected to power DockNav IQ's community features, together with the location and time they refer to. Road reports and arrival-detail corrections can be submitted without signing in. Confirming or disputing a report, and submitting photos, reviews, observations or posts, require an account: we link these to your account internally (for example, so one person can't confirm the same report twice) and never show your email or account ID to other drivers — only your username where one is displayed.
If you upload a photo of a facility, gate or hazard, it is stored on our servers and may be shown to other drivers. Every photo is scanned automatically by Amazon Rekognition for inappropriate content, and drivers can report photos. Photos flagged by the scan, or reported by other drivers, are not shown while they are under review. Please don't upload photos showing people, license plates or other personal information.
If you message another driver in the app, we store your messages so they can be delivered and shown to the people in that conversation. You can mute or block a driver and report a message; reported messages may be reviewed by us to keep the community safe.
DockNav IQ uses your microphone only when you start a voice destination search or a voice hazard report. The recording is uploaded to our servers and converted to text by Amazon Transcribe. The audio file is deleted automatically after 30 days and is not linked to your account.
If you choose to connect your Geotab ELD, you enter your MyGeotab database, username and password once. We use them only to sign in to Geotab on your behalf and never store your password. We keep an encrypted Geotab session token (Geotab sessions last up to 14 days), your MyGeotab database and username, and your Geotab driver ID and name. With these, the app reads your current duty status and the remaining Hours of Service time Geotab calculates for you (such as remaining driving time, on-duty window, break and cycle time) and shows it to you to help plan your trip and breaks. We use this data only for you; we don't share it with other drivers.
When you complete a navigated trip, the app sends a trip summary — such as predicted versus actual drive time, which route option you chose, reroutes and stops reached. Trip summaries do not include your GPS trail or your account ID. We use them to improve route and arrival-time predictions.
If you allow notifications, we store your device's push notification token, linked to your account, so we can send you app notifications.
Subscription purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). Subscription status is managed through RevenueCat, which receives your purchase records from the store and your DockNav account ID (a random identifier, not your email or name). We receive whether you have an active subscription, its plan and expiry or trial status. We never receive or store your card or payment details.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, correct or export your data. Contact us to exercise these rights.
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) between the app and our servers, and secure credential handling through Amazon Cognito. ELD session tokens are encrypted with a dedicated key, and our servers check on every request that you can only access your own private data. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we'll provide notice within the app.
